Warnings: None.
Summary: Rose and Scorpius always meet at the Astronomy Tower.
Author’s Notes: Written for Week 8 at Sorting Hat Drabbles on LJ. The prompt was "The Astronomy Tower."
Rose Weasley stopped, closed her eyes, and made a silent wish before she made the last turn before arriving at the Astronomy Tower and the end of her patrolling shift for the night. As one of the Ravenclaw prefects, it was her job, every other night, to roam a certain part of the castle just after curfew to send stragglers on their way and make sure no one was hiding out, waiting for a chance to slip out the castle doors and into Hogsmeade.
But alas, a peaceful end to the night was not to be, as she turned the corner to see Scorpius Malfoy, the Slytherin prefect assigned to work the same nights she did, eying the closed door warily. It wasn’t long before she heard the noises, followed closely by Scorpius’ “It’s your turn.”
Rose frowned. “It is not! Your last one was a false alarm. Ashe and Jacobson were dueling. It’s still your turn!”
The two prefects met at the end of every shift, just like the prefects for Gryffindor and Hufflepuff did, and they always chose this spot to end on because, if something unsavory was happening in Hogwarts after hours, it usually happened in the Astronomy Tower. The logic was, if they waited long enough to get there, the situation may have already resolved itself and they wouldn’t have to get involved.
That didn’t seem to be the case that particular night, however, and so the two played “Parchment, Quaffle, Wand” to decide who had to go inside and tell the overly-enthusiastic couple to put a stop to it and go back to their dorms.
Rose laughed triumphantly as her wand blew his quaffle to pieces, but smiled sympathetically as her companion grimaced and pushed the door open. A couple of groans and an annoyed sigh from Scorpius later, two Hufflepuff sixth years passed her with a glare and she couldn’t help but laugh as she walked into the Astronomy Tower and closed the door behind her.
For, you see, there was another reason Rose and Scorpius always ended their shifts at the Astronomy Tower.
