Draco grinned to himself. Sneaking into Granger and Weasley’s Engagement Party hadn’t been even half the task he’d chalked it up to be. What with Granger working at Hogwarts, she’d invited most of the staff, most of whom were more than eager to talk to a former student who conveniently arrived just as they did.

It didn’t take long for him to spot the object of his desire: Ginny Weasley, fiery Chaser for the Holyhead Harpies and, incidentally, the girl that had been avoiding him blatantly for more than a month. Draco Malfoy was not the type to be ignored lightly. She was sitting at what was no doubt the VIP table, the one that also seated Potter, Longbottom, Lovegood, and a couple other Weasleys whose faces he couldn’t see.

Finally in the thick of the crowd, he began maneuvering his way toward her table. Only, there was one variable he didn’t consider: Ron Weasley, the groom to be, making his way through the crowd at the same time and spotting Draco before he had a chance to duck behind some unsuspecting person in oversized robes.

“Malfoy?” Draco winced at the angrily incredulous tone in Weasley’s voice. This had suddenly gotten a lot more difficult. “What the bloody hell are you doing here?”

Behind him, he heard Severus’ voice, disappointment and annoyance laced through it. “This was a very stupid idea, Draco.”

Severus was one of the only ones who knew about what had happened all those weeks ago with Ginny Weasley at a party for the Holyhead Harpies’ players, owners, and financiers, so Draco knew it would make sense to him when he whispered, “It was my only chance.”

However, his chance was shrinking rather quickly as Weasley began yelling something about ‘traitorous ferrets’ and ‘trying to ruin the happiest times of his life.’ Draco, of course, wasn’t doing any such thing. He just wanted to talk to Weasley’s sister, who he could see telling Potter to sit back down and moving toward the crowd herself. He wished she would hurry, or at least move faster than the very armed Granger.

Reaching the center of the fray, Ginny barely even slowed as she grabbed Draco’s sleeve and pulled him sharply toward the door, announcing that everything was just fine, and that she would ‘take care of it.’

“That was unnecessary and moronic,” she raged as they walked outside.

“It got your attention.”

She glared at him. “And who said you didn’t already have it?”
